Meet and Greet....Jean May Originals!

/>

What kind of business do you own?

100% Handmade Fashion Accessories, Home Decor, Soaps & More! At JMO you'll find handcrafted jewelry, crocheted hats, scarves, purses and pillows, handmade cold process soap, hand-poured candles, hand-dipped incense, and recipes are currently being tested for edible treats!

How did you get started in your business?

I started making stretch bracelets purely for fun, when ladies started buying them right off my wrist. Soon they were asking me to design custom jewelry pieces. Then I taught myself to crochet, people took notice and again started requesting custom pieces. It was then that I decided to turn my hobby into a business, and Jean May Originals was born.

Who inspires you?

All the other indie artisans out there who create beautiful works of art with their own two hands. The thought, care, and love that goes into each and every handcrafted piece cannot be matched by a machine made, mass-produced item.

What are your goals with your business-5 years down the road?

My goal is to continue building the JMO brand and take it globally.

Do you work outside the home?

I do, as a Legal Assistant in downtown Chicago. For now. :)

What groups online/offline do you belong to?

I belong to a few wonderful groups of smart, independent, beautiful women (one has men, too)....The Support System, Sassy Sisters in Sales, Mom Pack, Homegrown Handmade, Pizza and Possibilities, to name just a few!

Any additional information you would like to share?

If you have a dream of owning your own business, go for it! It may not be easy, but it's so worth it. You only get out of it what you put in. The only thing that stands in your way of success is you!
